What is Imago Relationship Therapy?
Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT), was developed by Harville Hendrix, PhD. and Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD. Imago states that we are born in relationship, we are wounded in relationship, and we are healed in relationship.
Our childhood experiences form an unconscious image or Imago that we unconsciously look for in a partner. This image usually contains one or more characteristics or traits of a caregiver with whom we experienced the most unmet needs. |
