Clinical Information:    
John Boland has been a counsellor/psychotherapist for 30 years and has a wealth of experience in individual and couples therapy, as well as with children and youth. He has taught in the BC Public School System and has worked as a school counsellor as well as a counsellor for community agencies.  John was a professor at Vancouver Island University for over 10 years where he taught courses on human relationships, classroom management and personal/professional development.  Presently he works solely in his private counselling practice in Vancouver.

As a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, John is committed to helping couples put safety and passion back into their relationship. His skilled, compassionate approach helps couples at all stages, even those on the brink of separation, to reconnect and develop a loving supportive relationship.

Supporting parents and working with families, children, and youth have always been a prime focus of John’s practice. He has the ability to coach parents and support children even in times of extreme stress. In his work as a Collaboration Divorce Coach he helps parents ensure that the needs of the children are met and mutually workable solutions in everyone’s interest are found.

Another important focus of John’s work is helping individuals deal with trauma, stress, depression, anger management, and work-place conflict. He has Level 11 training in EMDR, and has trained with Dr. Jon Kabot-Zinn in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

John and his wife, Dr. Sue Goldswain, are both Certifed Getting the Love You Want weekend presenters.  These weekends are transformative.  They open the door to growth and change by helping you understand the dynamics of partnership and teaching you the nceessary skills to have a safe, passionate and conscious relationship.

John is passionate about his work and dedicated to helping clients achieve a more fulfilling life. His combination of warmth, respect, and professionalism, along with his skill and knowledge, make him an excellent choice for any couple or individual in search of therapeutic help.
